Paystack
Connect Paystack so your agent can check payments, customers and subscriptions.
Overview
Connect your Paystack account and your agent can answer payment questions from live data: check whether a payment went through, find a customer's recent payments, and check a subscription's status and next payment date.
What you can do
Answer “did my payment go through?” and “when is my next payment?” instantly, without a person looking it up.
Before you start
- A Zetra account with an agent. If you haven't built one yet, create a free account and follow the Quick start.
- A Paystack account, and its secret key from Settings → API Keys & Webhooks. Use the test key (
sk_test_…) to try it out and the live key (sk_live_…) for real customers. - A Standard plan or above. See pricing.
How to connect Paystack
Open the Paystack integration
Open your agent, click Integrations and then Connect with Paystack on the Paystack card.
Paste your secret key
Paste the secret key and click Connect. Zetra checks the key with Paystack, stores it encrypted and only ever sends it to Paystack. The card then shows Connected in test mode or live mode and the key's last four characters.
Turn on the Paystack actions
Click Build → Actions → Create action, open Paystack and add the actions you want:
- Verify a payment: looks up a transaction by the reference on the customer's receipt.
- Look up a customer: finds a customer's recent payments and subscriptions by email.
- Check a subscription: status and next payment date for a subscription code (
SUB_…).
Save and turn each one on.
Check it works
In the Playground, ask "Did payment reference ABC123 go through?" with a real reference from your Paystack dashboard. The agent answers with the payment's status and amount.
Your own Paystack calls
Any Call API action pointed at api.paystack.co can use your connected account: choose Paystack (connected account) as the action's authentication. No key to paste again.
Limitations
- Read-only by default. The built-in actions look things up; they don't refund or charge.
- Customers aren't signed in. Tell the agent in its instructions to ask for the payment reference or the email used to pay before sharing details.
Troubleshooting
“Paystack rejected this key” or “That's a public key”
Possible cause: a public key (pk_…) was pasted, or the secret key was regenerated in Paystack.
The agent can't find a payment
Possible cause: you connected the test key but asked about a live payment (or the other way round).
