Shopify
Connect your Shopify store so your agent can look up orders and products, and add the chat to your storefront.
Overview
Connect your Shopify store and your agent becomes a shop assistant: it can look up a customer's order by order number or email address and search your products, straight from your store's live data. Add the chat bubble to your storefront and shoppers can ask it anything without leaving your store.
What you can do
Give shoppers one place to find a product and ask “where's my order?”, with answers from your store's live data.
Before you start
- A Zetra account with an agent. If you haven't built one yet, create a free account and follow the Quick start.
- A Shopify store you can install apps on (store owner or staff with app permissions).
- A Standard plan or above. See pricing.
Connect your store
Open the Shopify integration
Go to your Zetra dashboard, open your agent, click Integrations and then Connect on the Shopify card.
Enter your store name
A window opens. Type your store name, the part before
.myshopify.com. Formystore.myshopify.com, entermystore. Click Submit.Approve Zetra in Shopify
Shopify shows what Zetra can access. Review it and click Install. The window closes and the Shopify card shows Connected.
That's all the agent needs. As soon as the store is connected, it can look up orders and search products whenever a customer asks. There's no action to set up. Click Manage on the card and Test connection to confirm it can reach your store.
Add the chat to your storefront
Open the Shopify channel
Click Channels, then Setup (or Manage) on the Shopify card. If your store isn't connected yet, the same connect window opens first.
Choose your theme
Make sure the toggle at the top right of the page is on, then pick the theme your store is using. Your live theme is marked (Live).
Open the theme editor
Click Open theme editor. If the page shows the Zetra chat app embed, switch it on in Shopify and click Save. If the page shows an embed snippet instead, paste it into
layout/theme.liquidjust above</body>and click Save.
Check it works
Open your store. The chat bubble appears in the corner. Ask it about a real order number (for example "Where is order #1001?") and a product, and check the answers match Shopify.
If you change themes
The snippet lives in the theme you pasted it into. After switching to a new theme, paste it into the new theme's theme.liquid too.
What the agent can do
| Ability | How it works |
|---|---|
| Look up an order | By order number (with or without #) or by the customer's email address: status, items, totals and fulfilment. |
| Search products | By title or keyword, so the agent can recommend and describe products from your catalogue. |
| More (optional) | Under Build → Actions → Shopify you can add actions that list products, list a customer's orders or create an order with your own Admin API token. |
Limitations
- One store per agent.
- Customers aren't signed in. The agent sees the order record Shopify returns, so anyone who knows an order number could ask about it. Add a line to your instructions such as "Before sharing order details, ask for both the order number and the email on the order, and never share payment details."
- Carts and checkout happen in your store; the agent links to products rather than adding them to a cart.
Troubleshooting
“Enter the store name from your myshopify.com address”
Possible cause: a custom domain or a full URL was typed; Shopify needs the store's own name.
The agent says it can't find an order
Possible cause: the order is older than your store's order history access, or the email differs from the one on the order.
